HistoryMaker Homes
Building Trust for a Historic Brand
As Creative Manager at HistoryMaker Homes, I led the development and execution of a complete brand overhaul that honored the company’s 75+ year legacy while positioning it for future growth. Founded in 1949, HistoryMaker Homes has a deep heritage in Texas homebuilding, and it was essential that the refreshed identity paid tribute to that enduring history. A key design decision was the integration of “EST. 1949” as a prominent and consistent element across the brand system, reinforcing both trust and longevity in an increasingly competitive market.
In addition to celebrating the company’s origins, I preserved and refined the brand’s signature bright red, a highly recognizable and emotionally resonant color that had been part of the visual identity for decades. Rather than replacing it, I elevated its role by pairing it with a modernized palette and typography system that gave the brand a bold, confident voice across all platforms. From the creation of a new logo to the development of comprehensive brand guidelines, the updated identity system ensured consistency in tone, visual hierarchy, and messaging across digital, print, and environmental applications, bridging the past and future of the brand seamlessly.
Constructing a Brand
First Impressions
One of the most impactful initiatives I led was setting the creative direction for HistoryMaker Homes’ new website. With the brand refresh as a foundation, I established a modern design system that balanced visual appeal with functionality, creating a cohesive and engaging user experience. Through collaboration with UX designers, developers, and the marketing team, I helped redesign the home search experience from the ground up, introducing clearer navigation, streamlined filters, and a more intuitive layout that allowed prospective buyers to quickly find homes based on their preferences. The updated site design also emphasized mobile responsiveness and accessibility, ensuring a seamless experience across devices. By aligning the digital experience with the new brand voice and visual identity, the website became a powerful tool that supported both customer engagement and business goals, resulting in a more efficient, user-friendly journey for homebuyers.
Selling Through Story
Beyond digital experiences, I brought the brand to life through physical spaces, conceptualizing immersive sales office environments within model homes that reflected the personality and promise of the brand. These installations enhanced customer engagement and created memorable, on-brand moments during the home buying journey.
